Budget Fall Front Porch Makeover - Under $100!

A couple of weeks ago, I had three days off work and a $100 budget to make our small front porch look festive and all decked out for fall. Here's how I did it!

Fall just might be the biggest season around town because of the Apple Butter Fest, which has been a tradition since the 1970's. It is a one-day festival which packs around 50,000 people into our usually quiet little village. There are reenactors, performers, craft booths, flea markets and antiques, food trucks, and of course Apple Butter stirring!

Since we are right on the main street, we knew from the moment we bought our house that we would be smack-dab in the middle of ALL of the action.

We feel like our house comes with some responsibility to add to the festive feeling!

When I was planning this makeover, there were a few things I really wanted to focus on that I knew would make a huge impact to the overall look.

✔ Paint the Front Door (and make it the focal point!)
✔ Add a Wreath
✔ Make a Fall Vignette
✔ Improve the Porch Light

I have to admit, I am amazed I was able to accomplish everything on my wish list with such a small budget. Two of the things that really helped keep costs down the most were making my own wreath (this YouTube video was a great jumping off point) and finding my awesome porch light that is - wait for it - only $18 (regular price!) at Walmart.

Isn't that blue door so wonderfully vibrant? This door is amazing because it is original to the house, solid wood, and it even has that lovely little Victorian doorbell. The dark wood wasn't doing our house many favors though, especially with the peachy siding and dingy screen door.

I used Kilz Chalk Paint in the color Authentic Navy, finished it off with some finishing wax, and it was truly a game changer. Suddenly, the door took its place as center of attention on the porch.

I created the house number decal using my Cricut machine and cut it out of vinyl. I have only had the vinyl on door for a short time so I can't say for sure that it will last forever, but I did add our last name in vinyl to our old apartment's mailbox. That project lasted perfectly for a year in all kinds of weather, so I am optimistic this will last for a long time, too.

SOURCES AND BUDGET BREAKDOWN

Grand Total: $89.00

Every day when I get home from work, I really feel like I am walking up to my home now, because the second I see the front porch I see a little bit of our touch to this house. That is the best feeling ever!

I can't wait to decorate this cute front porch for Christmas in a few months, but for now I will enjoy the changing leaves, the pumpkins, and of course the smell of Apple Butter in the air. Hope you're all enjoying your fall time, too.
